Why 100% Eucalyptus Sheets are better for our planet?

  • 96% less water used*

Bed&Butter Eucalyptus Sheets use 153 litres of water vs 4,020 litres required by traditional Cotton. Eucalyptus doesn't require a lot of water to grow, Cotton on the other hand is one of the thirstiest crops in the world.

  • Naturally biodegradable

Made with cellulosic fibres, Bed&Butter Eucalyptus Sheets are naturally biodegradable and degrade faster than most fibres like traditional Cotton.

  • Near zero wastage

Our sheets are produced via a Closed Loop Production Process which means the material wasted during production is reused. In comparison, Cotton production is infamous for dumping toxic waste, fertilisers, pesticides and insecticides.

  • OEKO-TEX® certified

If a textile carries this certification, you can be certain that every component of this textile (down to every thread) has been tested for harmful substances and therefore is harmless for human health.

  • Responsibly sourced Eucalyptus

We only source our eucalyptus from sustainably managed, biodiverse farm - no koalas were harmed in the making of our sheets. In comparison, Cotton cultivation overuses fertilisers which has an adverse impact on land fertility and surrounding animal life.

  • 30% less energy used

Bed&Butter sheets use 19kWh of energy to be produced vs 27kWh used by traditional Cotton. Cotton requires more energy to process and treat, leading to a higher energy consumption.

*Compared with Traditional Cotton.
We compare with Cotton Sheets as they are the most popular sheets in the world.

There's more to our Eucalyptus Sheets...

  • Keeps you cool

Highly breathable and moisture-wicking fabric supports your body's natural temperature regulation, keeping you cool, dry and comfy all night - unlike most Cotton and Linen that trap heat and sweat.

  • Exceptionally soft and smooth

Softer than a cloud (yep!). Softer than a baby's bottom (almost!). Our sheets have a buttery soft feel and they get softer after every wash - like magic!

  • Skin and hair friendly

Our sheets have a lower friction coefficient i.e. they are unbelievably soft on the skin and hair.

  • Fresher, longer

Superior moisture management creates an unfavourable environment for bacterial growth, keeping your sheets fresher for longer.

  • Deeeep pockets

Deep pockets mean our fitted sheets comfortably fit mattresses up to 20" thickness. It's like a snug hug for your mattress. ♥

  • Friendly fitted sheet

Bed&Butter fitted sheets come with a convenient label so you can easily identify the sheet corners. No more wrestling...hurray!

FAQs

Do you have any certifications?

Bed&Butter sheets are OEKO-TEX 100 certified. This means our sheets go through strict tests to ensure no toxic chemicals were used in the making. Our sheets are safe for everyone!

You say you are sustainable. Prove it?

Glad you asked! Let's start from the beginning. Our eucalyptus is sourced from sustainably managed and biodiverse farms. The wood pulp of these eucalyptus is used to create our fabric, via a closed-loop Lyocell process ensuring there is minimal wastage during the production process. These cellulosic fibres are naturally biodegradable, degrading faster than most fabrics. Our products ship in a 100% biodegradable and compostable packaging. There's no messing around with our planet at Bed&Butter.

You can sleep better knowing you've made the better choice for yourself and our planet.

How are your sheets made?

Our sheets are made from 100% eucalyptus, sourced from sustainably managed and biodiverse farms. The wood pulp of these eucalyptus is turned into yarn, via a closed-loop Lyocell process ensuring there is minimal wastage during the production process (96% waste free). This yarn is then spun and weaved into the glorious Bed&Butter eucalyptus sheets. Our sheets are OEKO-TEX100 certified meaning we do not use any toxic chemicals in the making.

Can I use these sheets if I'm allergic to eucalyptus?

You sure can! Our sheets are made from the wood pulp of eucalyptus, which is then safely processed into yarn. It is the leaves that have the scent and oil that you may be allergic to.

Where are your sheets manufactured?

Our sheets are crafted in Australia and are manufactured in India. Our manufacturing partner is one of the largest employers in the country. Their employees are paid above-average wages and receive additional benefits including healthcare and education. They work 8-hour shifts in a highly automated factory. Eucalyptus sheets production is a highly specialised process and require the best of the best to make them! The production process is ethical from start to end.

What is the thread count?

Our sheets are 400 thread-count and a sateen weave. After multiple R&D rounds, we chose 400 because of its airy and breathable properties.

It is a common misconception that the higher the thread count, the better the fabric. This is not always true. Rather than the thread count, it is the quality of the threads used that is important. Thread count has nothing to do with a fabric’s breathability, comfort or softness. A 400 thread count sheet may be softer and more breathable than a 1000 thread count sheet. Factors like breathability come down to the quality of yarn used.

How do I take care of the sheets?

Our Eucalyptus sheets are made from 100% eucalyptus wood pulp and do not use any toxic chemicals making them great in every aspect 😉. Now, with great sheets comes great responsibility.

Wash our eucalyptus sheets separately on a 'cold' or 'delicates' setting.

To dry, our preference is to hang them to dry - away from direct sunlight. But if this is not possible, you can tumble dry on gentle and low settings.

In the case of stains, apply detergent on the targeted area for 10 minutes and pop them in the washer following the above instructions.

Please do not use a bleach or fabric softner to ensure your sheets last loooooooooooong.

Best part? Our sheets get softer with washing.

Do these sheets have pilling?

Since our eucalyptus sheets are made from natural fibres and no toxic chemicals are used to treat these fibres, they may be prone to slight pilling if care instructions are not followed. To prevent pilling, please avoid friction with rough surfaces and follow the wash and care instructions provided!
